Migrate a domain controller from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008
In this Will be doing a Migrating from a windows server 2003 sp2 standard to 2008 R2 64 bit Windows Server.
The Domian Name Sccmtest.com
Roles in the server : DNS,
1. 1st step open command prompt and run the following commands, make sure first to browse to the adprep directory inside the Windows 2008 DVD , in my case, the D drive is the DVD Drive letter, so to browse to the adprep directory (Eg: cd D:\sources\adprerp)
· adprep/ forestprep
· adprep/ domainprep
· adprep/ rodcprep (Optional, if you plan to add a Read Only Domain Controller Later)
Like in the above Image run the all 3 command.
2nd step create the Windows 2008 X64 Server (that will be the New DC)
3rd Add the new server to the domain And promote it as ADC ( when you’re doing the Dcprome install the DNS Role As well)
Moving the FSMO roles to the new Domain Controller.
Change the Operations Master
(Active Directory Domains and Trusts MMC rite click go to connect to domain controllers and select the new DC)
The click Operations Master and Change.
Change the Schema Master
Run the following command regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll.
Add the Schema Snap-in in your Management Console.
Change the RID Master, PDC Emulator and the Infrastructure Master.
Go to Active Directory Users and Computers
Click on change RID Master, PDC Emulator and the Infrastructure Master.
All the FSMO roles are transfered to the new Server 2008 Domain Controller. Now demote the Windows 2003 Domain Controller by running the DCPROMO command.
And Restart the Old Server

Depending on your server operating system platform, download either the x86 or x64 version of WebDAV from: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=108052.( In windows 2008 r2 no need to download)
Depending on which version was downloaded, run either the webdav_x86_rtw.msi or the webdav_x64_rtw.msi file to install WebDAV IIS 7.0 extensions.
Enable WebDAV and create an Authoring Rule, as follows:
Change the property behavior as follows:
Close Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
In Server Manager, on the Features node, click Add Features to start the Add Features Wizard.
On the Select Features page, select Remote Differential Compression, and then click Next.
Complete the rest of the wizard.
Close Server Manager.
Open the applicationHost.config file located in the %windir%\System32\inetsrv\config\ directory on the BITS-enabled distribution point site system.
Search for the <requestFiltering> section.
Determine the file extensions that you will have in the packages on that distribution point. For each file extension that you require, change allowed to true.
For example, if your package will contain a file with an .mdb extension, change the line <add fileExtension=".mdb" allowed="false" /> to <add fileExtension=".mdb" allowed="true" />.
Allow only the file extensions required for your packages.
Save and close the applicationHost.config file.
